Herbal Medicine

Matricaria recutita, German chamomile

It is my mission to connect you with medicinal herbs to bring about your natural state of health and vitality. I work with the premise that your body knows how to heal itself, and that herbal remedies can be a powerful catalyst for this.

Herbs are our original medicine and it is our relationship with them that has been so important for the flourishing of our species. There is a deep bond between plants and people that goes back millions of years.

Many modern scientific studies are now proving the health claims of our ancestors about herbal remedies. There is a growing awareness of the need to reconnect with natural ways of living, and now more than ever is a good time to do so.

Energetic healing

In traditional cultures herbs were not just seen as helping us with the physical body, but also with our mental and emotional bodies too, and this is another aspect of their healing that can be just as important. The herbs have their own ‘personalities’ or ‘energies’ and we can learn from them and relate with them in this way.

Detoxification

At the root of many modern day illnesses is an accumulation of toxins in our bodies. Central to my work as a herbalist therefore is to assist in your body’s natural detoxification system. This is done with tried and tested naturopathic detox protocols and herbs to support your organs of elimination.

  • Herbs are generally very well tolerated, however challenges can arise when taking pharmaceuticals alongside them for which I have the adequate training to be able to deal with and know how to safely manage any possible contraindications.

  • Of course! Herbs are powerful medicinal agents and can affect great healing responses in the body. Conditions that are particularly benefitted by Herbal Medicine include digestive issues, anxiety, high blood pressure, insomnia, fatigue, hormonal imbalances and skin issues.

  • This is of course case dependent but generally speaking herbs do take a little longer to build up in your system and start to rebalance things as compared to taking a pharmaceutical drug where the change can be almost instant. Having said that, sometimes you will instantly notice their effect and so this is only a general rule. When taking a naturopathic approach to healing disease it does typically take longer and can require more commitment from you, but it leads to deeper healing in the end.
